Drive a regular food waste to composting collection truck route as a field operator for GoZERO Services and help individuals and organizations stop landfilling food waste.
GoZERO Services hires professional, get-it-done, take-no-prisoners, make-no-excuses drivers/operators for permanent direct-hire positions in the Cincinnati, Dayton, & Columbus, Ohio areas.
Eligible candidates will be detail-oriented and value doing real work and having a real impact as part of a caring team, knowing full well that there are easier ways to make a buck.
OVERVIEW
- class B commercial driver license (CDL) required, will train
- training at $20/hr – first road test paid for 60 days after start
- new CDL trainees start at $25/hr with merit raises up to $30/hr
- 1st shift – 7a -7p window
- weekly – 2-5 route-based shifts, flexible
- pay – every other week
- home – daily (some two-shift routes may be available)
- territory – Western and Central Ohio
- hub – Zanesfield, OH 43360 – park at home/remote optional
RESPONSIBILITIES

- ensuring equipment remains in compliance with state, federal, and company standards

A typical day involves arriving to prep the truck in the early morning, driving the truck to 8-24 service locations, executing services, and then unloading and prepping the truck at a designated location, all with the support of our app and scheduler/dispatcher team.
ADDITIONAL PRE-QUALIFICATIONS
- 21 years of age
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, health exam, background, and motor vehicle record checks
- Currently hold a valid DOT Medical Card or can obtain
- Able to provide driving performance log/abstract
- No more than one moving violation or accident
- No Suspensions or revocations due to a moving violation or accident
- No DUIs

- Safely and effectively drive a commercial truck, and sometimes trailer, into and out of minimum clearance spaces, using mirrors to back up
- Safely and effectively operate relevant equipment
- Monitor and service the truck and equipment with basic proactive maintenance for safety and longevity
- Use personal and company devices and company software to plan and report pre-trip, service visit, unloading, post-trip, expense logging, and other information as needed
- Read and understand maps and mapping software
- Recognize and address unacceptable waste (such as non-compostable materials)
- Able to read, write, and speak English effectively in providing and receiving information
- Able to effectively and objectively communicate
- Follow all policies, standards, and procedures for safety and effective delivery of services
- Work in all weather conditions and times of day
- Proper techniques must be used to avoid injury when executing physical work, including repetitive lifting (up to 100 lbs), pushing, pulling, and climbing
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Exposure to all weather conditions
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste
- Exposure to heavy traffic conditions inside and outside the truck
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs pre-and post-tri inspection of the vehicle, documenting and reporting any mechanical or safety issues
- Operates vehicles in a safe manner in compliance with EPA, OSHA, and DOT requirements, as well as all local, state, and federal laws and company policies
- Courteously interact with internal and external customers, ensuring customers are serviced professionally and on time
- Safely lifts and loads material, completely emptying receptacles into vehicles, leaving the area clean of debris while monitoring and sorting collected material to remove non-compostable waste.
- Washes and lines receptacles when appropriate.
- Replaces receptacles neatly at the designated point.
- Monitors operations to detect loose debris, using mirrors or direct sight and/or listening for debris falling onto trucks during dumping operations
- Visually scans customer sites before and after dumping for safe and tidy service
- Report service issues, such as blocked alleyways, contaminated receptacles, safety hazards, or impassable streets, to dispatchers
- Immediately notifies dispatcher of any accidents, injuries, or property damage
- Works with the scheduler to improve route efficiencies
- Maintains and updates route and driver logs
- Clears material from the truck at each unloading to ensure equipment operations will continue safely and productively
- Participates in scheduled safety meetings, information sessions, and training as directed
- Uses maps and/or GPS tools to locate service points
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
