First a foremost thanks for considering compost, AND thank you for your ideas on how we all can get more composting done!
Most every idea has some potential. There is INCREDIBLE potential out there, and ...we at GoZERO operate very much on the basis of going where we're invited.
This municipality, that school, this company, or that restaurant – when someone writes and says, "We want GoZERO's services at XYZ!" we work hard to make sure they understand what's involved in setting up and keeping up a food waste composting program and how to "get onboarded" with our services.
That said, we consistently find that cold calling on the basis of, "Excuse me sir/miss, we'd like to offer you composting services because we think it's an amazing wonderful thing and we think you should too," ... is a very uphill climb beyond what we have the ability to do ourselves.
It's a little like the first hill on a rollercoaster (if you like rollercoasters). Getting people up that first hill of "you SHOULD compost," is pretty difficult, but if a party calls GoZERO and is already at the top of that hill and already determined that they WANT to compost, just needing help down the "HOW do I compost" track – GoZERO can help with that every time.
That's where you come!
When passionate folks like yourself have ideas for where GoZERO could help make a difference, the best idea we can offer is to ask that if you know something or someone who could or should maybe consider composting, and specifically food waste composting, and specifically the services that GoZERO offers in order to make composting easier... please share what you know, who you are, and what you've experienced yourself with them and do a little reaching out in order to see if your hunch is right. If there is someone interested in this organization or that company, push them to reach out to us, and from that point we can do what we do best helping people understand the setup, upkeep, and onboarding bits of getting the good work of composting done.
Yes, I am shamelessing proposing you do some tactical marketing/PR for GoZERO and really for the greater good of composting. We are a pretty small nonprofit which has focused on building an operational capability people can count on to do the logistical "heavy lifting" involved in getting actual food waste composting actually done, and on purpose we don't have a sales and marketing capability. Instead, when people reach out, we try to pay attention and ask them to do what they can to help us do more of the good work we do. Hopefully that makes sense and is more inspiring than offputting. We're big on self determined doing what you can to help others do what they can.
Net net – if you know of anyone interested in letting us help them divert there food waste away from landfilling and toward composting, send them our way? It's always encouraging to hear from folks thinking through how composting can become a bigger part of how we live and work and play.
If you'd like to chat for a few minutes in order to hear our best ideas on how best to pitch composting because you think you might actually geek out knocking on some doors and/or calling/emailing some folks, find a time that works for you on David's calendar or leave a comment below?
Thanks again. Ever grateful!
